Why Rutgers Library bookstores should go back to the ’90s

The Rutgers University Libraries (RRLs) have been at the center of the controversy surrounding an online bookshop’s removal from a campus bookstore.

The online retailer, titled The Book of the Month Club, was removed from a student bookstore by the Rutgers Libraries Board of Trustees last week after complaints.

“It was never our intention to remove the book and we apologize for that,” RRL spokesperson Jennifer Seaton told The Huffington Post.

“The board believes the book is a good one and that it should be on our shelves for students to enjoy.”

But some students say the online bookseller is promoting a toxic ideology.

“I think it’s very disappointing that the Board is trying to regulate what can and can’t be on the shelves of a public library, especially when it’s an online store,” student and Rutgers Libraries board member Amy McKeon told The Associated Press.

“This is something that’s been going on for years now and it’s only been this year that a number of the institutions that are supposed to be protecting the public have gone in a more proactive direction.”

RRLs bookshop, The Book, has been online since 2003, and the board said it is now accepting feedback from customers about how the online store will function in the future.

Seaton, however, told The New York Times that the RRL is “not looking to censor or shut down any particular book, and certainly not a book like this one.”

“We’ve been looking at what works in the online market, and what’s the best way to do that, and we’re really open to that discussion,” she said.

“We just want to ensure that students have the ability to have access to the books they need.”

The RRL said it has received “a great deal of feedback” from students and community members, and that the company has “been very transparent about its intentions.”

The online book was created by University of Maryland graduate student Matthew Schuster, who described himself as a “progressive, progressive liberal.”

The company claims to be a “community of students who love books.”

“This book is something we’ve been working on for over a year,” Schuster wrote on his blog.

“Its an awesome resource for all of us to learn about how books can help us better understand the world around us.”

The Book has a “history of being a source of humor, philosophy, and creativity” that “can be enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds,” according to its site.

In an online petition, students said they are “disappointed and disappointed that our books are no longer available on this website.”

They added that “this decision has no place in the 21st century.”

“The Board has the power to make these decisions, but we will not stand for the Board trying to take away the free speech rights of the students that want to read and share their favorite books,” the petition stated.

Students said they hope the RLC will reconsider their decision to remove The Book.

“Rutgers Libraries and The Book are a wonderful resource to educate, to share, and to discover new books,” one student, Masha Shamsi, told the New York Daily News.

“Students deserve to be able to find and purchase books of all kinds and to use those books in their learning and learning to be more creative.”

Students and alumni of the University of Michigan have also criticized the RLLs decision.

“There is no doubt that the book was meant to be enjoyed and that many students are passionate about it,” Michael A. Bostrom, a professor of neuroscience at the University at Buffalo, told Bloomberg Businessweek.

“But I’m not so sure that the university’s board of trustees should be deciding how to preserve the value of the book, or the value for the university of having a library with a good selection of great books.

It just seems like the university is trying too hard to protect the books and not trying hard enough to preserve books for people to read.”

The Rutgers Libraries website says the “books in this catalog are selected to reflect current popular trends and current trends that are emerging in the humanities and social sciences.”

The book, titled “The Culture of Critique,” is an essay about a professor who writes a book about the cultural critique of Marxism, which is widely considered the intellectual and political philosophy that helped establish capitalism and its social and economic effects.

In “The Cult of Criticism,” Schusters argues that Marx is responsible for the cultural decay of Western civilization.

The book was originally published in 2003, but Schuster says he removed it in 2013 because of complaints from students.

“One thing that upset me is that there were complaints that it was a book that was too controversial and was too sensitive and that I wasn’t allowed to discuss these topics,” he told Bloomberg in an interview.

“You’re not allowed to criticize it.
