Now that we’ve all gotten to know Ellie and her new family, it’s time to revisit the story.
And while the game may not be all the same, it feels more intimate than ever, even if the story may have a lot more to say than it does.
In addition to having a more open-ended story, Ellie has a different perspective on her new home, as well.
In a new interview with GameSpot, Ellie’s father explains that Ellie’s experiences in her past will come back to haunt her in the sequel, in part because of her relationship with Joel.
“There are so many things that are going to happen in the first game that we’re just not going to fully explore,” said Todd Howard, who will return as director of The Last Of Us: New Order.
“And that’s where we’ll have to take a little more time.”
We already knew that Ellie would eventually meet her new brother, Marcus, in the third game, but we still haven’t gotten to see him face off against Joel.
Howard explained that Ellie will have a “big impact” on Marcus in the game.
“I’m just very happy to finally get to see Marcus face off with Joel,” he said.
“I’m very excited about it.
Marcus is going to be a great player and a great guy.
But I can’t wait to see how that dynamic evolves.”
When asked if Ellie will ever find her true family, Howard answered, “Yeah, and I think that’s the way it’s going to play out.
We don’t have any real answers at this point.”
