Books to open in SF in fall: San Francisco Chronicle

The San Francisco Booksellers Association is celebrating the opening of three new bookstores in the Bay Area.

The three new stores will be located in San Jose, Berkeley and Santa Clara, the association said in a press release Thursday.

The group announced the stores will open on Friday, Aug. 12, 2019.

The San Francisco Public Library will also open a new branch in Santa Clara on Saturday, Aug, 12, 2021.

The Berkeley branch of the San Francisco Urban League will also close on Saturday Aug. 13, 2021, according to the release.

“As more SF readers are looking for a local bookshop, we are excited to have a place to explore and read local authors, artists, and thinkers,” said Mark Kline, executive director of the SF Urban League.

“The new SF bookstores will help support the city’s growing book community and the new SF library network.”

These new bookshops are the first to open up in the SF region in three years.

Since the opening in February 2018, bookstores have been opening in San Francisco, Oakland and the Bay area.
