In an effort to get more people to shop in the city, Amazon has opened an online bookstore in Manhattan.
The company’s “Book Club” store in the Financial District was one of several locations to open in New England over the past month.
“We’re really excited to bring our community together, and the Book Club is a great way to celebrate all the books that make New York the place to be,” said Steve Green, vice president of global expansion at Amazon.
The Book Club offers a variety of books from publishers like Random House and HarperCollins.
Customers can browse the titles for $7.99 each, with discounts on larger books.
It also offers free shipping on most orders of $25 or more.
The shop also offers a selection of books for $5.99 apiece.
It offers free international shipping on orders of more than $50.
The Amazon Book Club store in Manhattan has been a hit.
Customers have been spending more than double what they were buying from the company’s online store.
“People want to buy from Amazon, so we are thrilled that we have an outlet in the financial district where people can find great books,” Green said.
