Purdue bookstore to close in 2019

The Purdue Bookstore and its partner Hammes bookstore will close in September 2019, according to a news release issued by the bookstore Monday.

The news release said that the bookstore will remain open for the benefit of its patrons.

The company has been operating a number of other Purdue bookstores throughout the years, including the Eastside Bookshop in downtown West Lafayette.

In the fall of 2019, the West Lafayette bookstore will relocate to its current location at 3200 West Lafayette Road in West Lafayette, the release said.

Hammes will be open at West Lafayette for the first time since the bookstore’s closing, the news release stated.

Purdue Bookstores was founded in 1978 and serves the community by selling books to students and others who want to read or to buy books for other Purdue students.

It is one of five bookstores that are owned by the Purdue Book University.
